2017 - 2018 Year in Review

Budget Update

  • Thanks to all the support from the Clarke community, the Clarke PTO exceeded their budgeted income expectations by over $13,000. 
  • Our biggest fundraiser, Clarke Night Out, brought in over $21,000
  • Fundraisers: Magazine Drive, Book Fair, Spirit Wear, Picture Day
  • The excess funds will be carried over into next year's PTO budget and used to enhance the educational experience for Clarke students, faculty and families

Clarke Mini-Grants Awarded

  • 20 grants were awarded including OT supplies, BARK Pep Rally, Kindness Rocks Activity, Ocean Science Club Supplies, Compass Challenge, Moth Radio Microphone and more. 
  • Grant total $5,135

Making a Difference Locally and Nationally

  • Collected and donated $6,000 for hurricane relief for a school in Texas
  • Collected and donated $2,000+ for a Lexington family in need during the holidays
  • Local business fundraisers at Helena's, Bertucci's, Wilson Farm and Flatbread

Amazing Volunteers!

  • 60+ Volunteers on the PTO Board
  • 80+ Volunteers helped out at events
  • 100+ Volunteers donated food items, money and gift cards
  • Special thanks to our outgoing president, Patricia Holguin. Patricia led the PTO last year with Jennifer Velis and this year with Christina Cohen. She successfully recruited volunteers to manage important community building and fundraising events. Patricia was instrumental in running the Clarke Night Out in 2018. Working together with Principal Monaco and other Clarke staff, Patricia nurtured the parent/guardian and faculty relationship. Thank you, Patricia for your dedication and hard work to maintaining and building a successful PTO!

  • 2 Dessert and Treat Days for Teachers & Parents During Conferences
  • 4 Luncheons for Faculty
  • 5 Student Socials
  • 5 Parent Informational Sessions - Get to Know Your New School, Your Middle School Student and Substances, Social-Emotional Skills, Going to LHS, Screenagers
  • METCO event at Sky Zone
  • A performance of The Outsiders by the National Theater for Education and Arts for the 8th grade class


  • Parents and teachers received weekly emails throughout the year
  • Clarke PTO launched a new user-friendly website in June 2018

Green Team - Reducing Clarke's Carbon Footprint

  • Hosted 2 Walk and Roll Events to reduce fossil fuel burning and increase physical activity
  • Reduced lunch waste by over 80%!
  • Working towards making all PTO events 'Zero Waste' with composting/recycling stations
