Dear Clarke Families,
We hope you had a wonderful summer. On behalf of the PTO board, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all families new and existing. We are very excited to have a great team of parents this year who will help coordinate and manage the many events that take place throughout the year. PTO activities benefit everyone in our community; teachers, staff, parents and students.
The PTO sponsors and supports the 900+ students, teaching faculty, staff and parents. Some of our programs include:
Donating books to the library
Supporting teacher’s programs via mini-grants (totaling $5,000 every year)
Hosting grade-level socials
Organizing the Walk and Roll to school day
Funding students’ scholarships for trips
Hosting interesting and insightful speakers for parent information sessions
There are plenty of volunteer opportunities available. Some roles require only a small investment of time and yet make a big impact in our community. What better way to get involved with the school than volunteering for the PTO? For more information please contact Patricia at email@example.com or Christina at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To continue these wonderful programs, we rely on PTO membership dues and other donations. We invite each family to become a member of the PTO. Your contribution of only $25 a year, along with our largest fundraiser of the year, Clarke Night Out, are vital to funding the PTO mission of building community at Clarke. In addition, with your membership you will receive the PTO weekly announcements, three newsletters, and the school directory.
Middle Schoolers are busy growing and learning, and some may not be the most reliable source for bringing home all the information regarding opportunities at and around school. One way for parents/caregivers to stay informed is to attend the monthly PTO meetings with special guest Principal Anna Monaco. All parents and caregivers are invited to join us at the meetings that generally take place at 8:30 am the first Thursday of the month in Clarke’s cafeteria. There will also be two evening meetings in December and March. Our first meeting is scheduled for Sept 7th.
We hope to see you throughout the year at PTO events and activities!
Thank you for your support and participation, and have a fantastic 2017-2018 school year,
Patricia Holguin and Christina Cohen
